October's Child

Today is his birthday, but he will get no Happy Birthday greeting from me, for we no longer speak.

Many moons ago, October welcomed a boy, to take his place upon the earth.
Kentucky claimed him as a son, Kentucky runs through his veins and has deep roots in his heart.
A chance meeting on a poetry site, brought him into my life.
I feel Karma and a mystical force crossed our paths.
A love of poetry was our common ground.
We bonded through alike thoughts and felt each of us had the missing puzzle piece that would complete each other's life puzzle.
We invited each other into our private world.
Daily phone calls immersed us deeper into each other's life.
His world had been turned upside-down and I had a sympathic ear and caring heart.
I learned to truly care for this sad, broken manchild.
My life had been arranged at an early age, casting me into a marrige, not of my choosing.
Allowed no normal childhood, unwanted and unloved at birth, I was a prisoner of life and sentenced to life without parole.
Poetry had always been my voice and only freedom.
I felt October's Child's pain and wanted to give him The Tender Loving Care that was absent in his life.
Soon he wanted to meet me and at a risk and on blind faith, I met him.
He was so angery at life and wanted revenge, not being able to make life pay, he chose to unleash his anger on me.
As he impaled me with his anger, venting his rage on life, I sat there in silence, viewing him with wiser eyes and against my will, once again feeling sorrow that he was hurting so badly.
After his inner storm of rage, finally was over, I held him as he cried.
I realized that we were just two wounded people, victims of life, who had reached out, hoping to find someone who would finally love us and really care.
We had been victims of the poet's curse, we had not loved each other, but had loved the thought of love, as poets are guilty of doing.
I still think of October's Child, he was a leap of blind trust and faith, another life's lesson I had to learn.
The lesson learned, I will always have me and I will never again take another leap of faith, I will dwell inside of me, never to seek love and understanding from another.

Sigh! This is my birthday, also. You actually sound like an October child, always giving. Always finding the wounded and nurturing them.
You're a wonderful person. being loved is easier than being IN love.

Not sure waht to say.

Born in October as Iam, I cant't help but feel a bit guilty.

But I will get over it.

But seriously, You will always have your self to love, and thats very important. And a person with so much to give dosn't have to seek love, it will seek you out.

Take care cabbage.

Tony

Deep and revealing. I can see this situation fitting you like a glove. You're a hurt but caring person, and to hold that part of you down in the future is not just difficult, it's not completely right.

I'm glad to know that you are still writing, and reaching people and keep singing your songs cuz we're listening.

I felt this writing. Some say if you never take the chance..you might miss out on something wonderful. I guess I miss out...but I am content.

I think there is an October Child in all of us, the secret word is child. Most of us hopefully grow up. This is a very touchingly sad but yet beautiful write. I think we can all identify with something in it. Love, Bonnie

I was there SC and swore there would never be another I'd share my heart and ove with but after seven years I knew I had to take what was being offered me or lose it forever and that was 37 years ago dear. Love can be blind whe we've been hurt so much. Thank you for sharing dear.

Hi SC:

There are a lot of disappointed people on earth. I knew of one young lad who was actually angry at everyone, and everything in life. Love to him seems to be too far for him to reach, and he's always angry for not having anyone to love him.

You can really get taken by someone's misfortune and anger if you are really kind. I had been there, but I didn't fall for his "no one to love mood, and he has to love you mood, since we are so very far apart in age and everything"; but unlike you, I have never met this young man, so I'm much emotionally safer.

Be careful, there are a lot of men who would give you a sad life story, but you don't know if it's true or not; all you can do is to just console them and hope they will come out of the sadness and continue on their life's journey. That's all women can do. Nothing should be more than that, for it's not worth to take the emotional risk.

Take care, and be well.

Lots of love,

Sandie Angel :o)

SC,
"victims of the poet's curse" indeed but saying "never" is a tough line to take even if it's understandable...then again all of us do dwell inside ourselves to some degree and it's often our best protection. Thank you for this.

A touch of sad melancholly but also a realization that there is not always a black and white answer of who is right and who is wrong. Well done my friend.
