A shiver vibrates my body
As the snow drifts upon the walk
I watch it as sifts and rolls
Giving the appearance of a vast ocean
A frozen tide
Surfing upon a shore of grassland
Overtaking what’s left of the life underneath
The everlasting infernal wind
Grasping at the stubborn landscape
Until even the strongest of will submits
The ground screams in torment
But the wind retaliates in kind
Laughing at the futileness of the effort
A constant power struggle
Continually escaping energy
Which is absorbed by the oncoming foe
Only to escape and be reabsorbed by another
A never-ending cycle that repeats itself
With horrific after effects
The ground shakes from the abuse
But fights with a valiance so seldom ever seen
I see the wicked smile of the tormentor
Just as it regroups for another assault
It’s eyes glow white within it’s frigid depths
The acuteness of its vision is terrifying to behold
It sees all the weaknesses
Capitalizing on all the visible limitations
Until its opposition reluctantly surrenders
I understand and empathize with the ground’s plight
For I too have known that battle
I’ve fought that oncoming foe
Only to learn one of life’s hardest lessons
That being when to just let go
