I’ve spent a lifetime
Pulling myself through
Consoling myself
I hold myself when I cry
My strength has been my greatest ally
People lean on me
They depend upon me
But just for once
I would like to be the one who’s carried
To be held while I cry
Having an experience like that
Wow that would be indescribable
Life is a series of moments
Still photographs
Captured forever in memory and time
Every one of those images is a lesson
They are designed to teach me . . . something
I don’t mean to presume
But . . .
I already know that I’m strong
I’ve proven that time after time
So what am I learning now?
What lesson haven’t I done right?
Why do I have to repeat the same ones?
I deserve to be held, don’t I?
Haven’t I held others enough?
Haven’t I carried them?
I guess I’m just selfish
But just for once
I would really like to know what it’s like

Oh how you deserve it and it's alright to want it. So very poignant. I can deeply relate with this.
