Oh Lord tell me how to handle a world gone crazy
Tell me how to make it clear instead constantly hazy
I could sit back and watch the clouds roll by
And not have a worry or a tear in my eye
My friends would not be in misery and pain
And would not be subjected to people who are insane
We could all sit in the shade of a blooming apple tree
And watch as the petals float down lazily
Oh, if only we could live in a world without fear
In a world we do not lose the people we hold dear
The sadness is deep and the pain is severe
As my dream fades and my reality is clear
How do I take back the power which is MINE
From a disease that devours my family and doesn’t know how to be kind
I think this beast is like everlasting labor
With nothing at the end on which to savor
I guess the only lesson that can be learned
Is to love who we can in spite of being burned
The only way this beast can win
Is if we turn away from love and give in
And that is one thing I promise never to do
To stop loving all of you
