My dreams are like a tunnel that goes directly to my soul
Where everything I cannot face in the light tries to grasp control
The shame that hits me under the cloak of night
Becomes my internal power struggle after the first morning’s light
There are so many things I do not understand
Like where does he come from and how does he get the upper hand
I go for months not even thinking his name
And all of a sudden his face appears and my world is not the same
His power is strong and his demons are black
It takes all my energy to peel another layer of the onion back
These demons are black with their eyes shining bright
And they come out of the shadows to haunt me at night
He’s their leader and he calls the shots
But the demons can haunt me whether he is with them or not
The only way to make these demons disappear
Is to take him completely out of the picture
Sometimes I think I need an exorcism
If that’s the case, God will have to deal with him
I don’t have enough power to deal with these dark dreams
And the harder I fight them the stronger they seem
So I give up the fight now and give them to Him
Who has infinitely more power and a light that can’t dim
It is my hope that he and his demons will go away
But until they do, all I can do is pray
