The author remembered his youth in school

The Best in Class

I was the best in my class, every season

My teachers never grasped the reason

As I recall today, I was silent and shy

My head never understood why

Logical as it may be, to be a good guy

Now I can tell you why

Never listen to your mind

Follow your gut feeling and you’ll find

You will never be wrong

You will even be strong

Life is not in the hand of logical thought

What makes it work can hardly be taught

I love this view into your childhood, Emile! And... I agree. So much of what we learn can't be taught through school.

I detested home work and it led to some unhappy school days and trips to the principles office with my parents but High School straightened me out.

I was the biblical number seventh in my class, I believe my attention faltered as I sat, apparently, on a wasp nest, couldn't keep myself out of trouble now and then.
