Our time between the gates of birth and death is brief indeed...

The Crime of God

A dream I dreamed, a dream of death, and death appeared to me

Of blood I dreamed, a broken corpse, I knew that it was thee

Beyond the years of youth and joy, of fleeting, whispered love

There lies the realm of broken dreams, the curse of God above

Beneath our feet, above our heads, through length and breadth of time

Through death’s dark gate it lies in wait,  the fruit of God’s great crime

There long have wailed the withered souls, cast down from life and light

Within the halls of misery, designed our hearts to blight

Oh! Children of this beauteous world, take joy and life and breath

So brief the span of all our lives, so swift the call of death

Chilly, frightening, a dark tale of death that you chose to end on a positive note. Fortunately... :-)

Excellent write. However, I too do not agree with the message. There is a saddness to death when that is the finale of the play. I am ever hopeful that eternity continues this journey called life, and, that death, is just a blip on the radar screen.

Keith, You are a master of your craft! I mean it as a compliment, Edgar Allen Poe, and you are sort of plowing the same field, with the same plow, but I find the depths of your knowing and expression more intriquing, thank you for this it is terrifyingly wonderful! Jasmin Horst

Excellent rhythm, strong words. Liked the poem, even if I don't necessarily agree with the message...
