INCOGNITO


the journey can be lengthy
don’t make it incognito
hidden behind a façade
you show to those you pass
everyday on your path
and when they lay you low
they won’t begin to know

the woman who is “you”

they will weep for the one
they thought you were
but “you” will not be known
mourned nor remembered
only a façade laid to rest
beneath a blanket of fair roses
they never gave you in life

dare to take off the mask

if with only one you trust
one not separated by miles
with shoulders to catch tears
one who can touch your hand
look into your eyes without
judging as bad those things
inside you that are good

let the true beauty out

the world can be so ugly
let your beauty light its corners
and your passion warm
the coldness of its dying heart
don’t travel incognito anymore
find a way to reveal a unique “you”
so beautiful and worth knowing
