Thank you Paul, for your service and sacrifice. These same one who care nothing about memorial day will be screaming loudest when our shores are threatened. Excellent poem.

I think folk would give a hoot: if only they knew who they could be. They need us but because of this character flaw of "assumed superiorty", they never learned how to express AGAPE LOVE. Good Work Here.

Paul, you've given us a negative view of what Memorial Day has become, and sometimes that negative view is needed to get folks' attention. So many of us live in our own safe little worlds never even considering the pain and anguish going on in the lives of those who serve this country and their families. I wish we had some sort of public network so we can hear their thoughts and feelings on what is happening in their lives.

Perhaps as a nation we have lost our soul, or maybe it sleeps waiting for the right moment to re-awaken. God bless our troops and their families always. I assure you there are many, like myself who will never, ever forget and I thank you for your selfless sacrifice...

*I* give a hoot, Paul, believe me. Daughter of, sister of, niece of, cousin of Veterans, as well as a USAF Veteran, myself. As long as there is breath in my body, I will honor those who've served, who've put their lives on hold, so we could be free to have the picnics and the sales (grrrrr). We need to remember WHY there is a Memorial and Veteran's Day, not just on certain days, but EVERY day. Thank you, Paul, for YOUR service, and welcome home!
