In a vale down by a river,
Sat a church constructed with love;
Framed and enclosed with trust & faith,
On all God's promises from above.

In that humble, simple white church,
The Pastor called to one and all;
"Come join us in celebration,
As we answer His loving call.

"Take a seat beside your neighbor,
As we praise Christ and take His hand;
Together as one, we will learn,
Of our Lord’s most glorious plan.

He invites us all to be saved,
Yet, allows us to make that choice;
So we must decide for ourselves,
To accept the sound of His voice."

"Won’t you please come into my church,
Open your heart, listen awhile;
Then you can make up your own mind,
Whether or not you'll be my child."

That simple church down in the vale,
Once peaceful and so full of grace;
Built to be filled only with love,
My Lord, how I miss that old place.
