This one is from my third book in the Lessons in Life series,
TRAILS TO ETERNITY. I wrote this while sitting atop Jewel Hill, in Groton,
New Hampshire on December 1, 2007.
A sick man turned to his doctor,
He looked up at him and he cried;
"Doctor, I am afraid to die,
Tell me what lies on the other side."
The doctor looked at him and said,
"I'm sorry my friend, I don't know;
But I don't think it's your time yet,
You'll know when it's your turn to go."
"You don't know? You're a Christian man,
What's waiting on the other side;
Doctor, won't you tell me the truth?
In you I thought I could confide."
The doctor was standing near a door,
From behind it came cries of sadness;
When the doctor opened up the door,
A dog ran in panting with gladness.
Turning to the man the doctor said,
"My dog has never been here before;
She had no idea what was inside,
Simply in faith she walked through that door.
"But she knew her master was waiting,
So, she ran in without any fear;
I know scant about the other side,
It's enough to know, Jesus is there.
OUR MASTER IS THERE - AND THAT IS ENOUGH!
