The following is a true story as it actually happened. Yes, it's a sad story in its own right and it may not be over even as of this writing, but at this point, it has its positive side; Tina is with us again, even if only for several weeks a year. God works wonders in His own way and time and its Tina's happiness that's my first concern. It's a shame though that child services from state to state foul up the way they do. The child's best interest should always be first and foremost.
You came to us at five days old,
Brought with you, happiness and love;
No doubt, you were a gift from God,
Sent to us from Heaven above.
Took you into our family,
Made you part of our hearts and home;
You were such a wonderful child,
We loved you like you were our own.
Two years we raised and nurtured you,
Then one day came the fateful news;
Your real Dad wanted you back,
All your love we hated to lose.
Though they said that’s where you belonged,
For his blood was within your veins;
We felt our hearts breaking apart,
And today, that hurt still remains.
They said if it didn’t work out,
They’d call us and bring you right back;
But somewhere the system went wrong,
And you were lost, fell through a crack.
Back into a broken system,
From foster home to foster home;
We hoped you were loved and cared for,
And prayed you never felt alone.
All of our pleas went unanswered,
We were told it was best that way;
They said to simply let you go,
So to God we continued to pray.
That some how, some way we'd find you,
Then a “friend” simply called us one day;
Said you had become a Tuesday’s child,
Your adoption was well on its way.
Now nearly eight years had gone by,
But God sets things right in His own time;
Reunited we would be again,
Everything would soon work out fine.
Now we skip to the present day,
Eleven years since you were born;
You’re back in our lives once again,
No longer are our hearts forlorn.
Tina, you know we love you so much,
We’re so glad you’re part of our world;
Anyone can be a daughter,
Not you, you’re Daddy’s little girl.
Absolutely love those last two lines. This touched my heart. I used to work for a "Child Intervention Program" in New Hampshire and found it too sad to watch how their quest for federal money to fund their programs came way before any thought for the health or happiness of our clients. I quit, because I could not help them to open their hearts and care for the children they were hurting. . .and my heart could not bear being part of it.
This is a heartfelt story Paul! Yet what a happy ending....because God is working it all out for the good of Tina and you and your family who loves and call her your own..." Daddy's little girl " Story of hope and a God who restores! Thank you Paul for this powerful write!
I DON'T SEE THIS STORY AS A SAD ONE...I SEE GOD AND HIS MERCY AND GRACE THROUGHOUT. WE WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND WHY GOD ALLOWED THE SEPARATION, BUT TINA IS BACK WITH YOU AND SHE IS WELL AND THAT IS A RICH BLESSING. YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE AND I PRAY THAT GOD'S POWER CONTINUES TO REIGN IN YOUR LIVES. THANKS FOR THIS SHARING, LOVE AND BLESSINGS, JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
This is just heartwrenching!!! And a very good poem ~
But!!!!!
How on earth can the system be so negligent?
Yes, it's a happy ending of sorts, but you should not have had to go through that, any of you.
I have an adopted son. It's no different than the feelings and love I have for my birth child, no different in any way whatsoever at all, end of story, and you poor people for going through all of that!
Blessings,
Christine
