I figured I'd take a break today
While walking along this trail of life
I needed some peace and solitude
A short relief from worry and strife

I sat by a pond in the forest
As peaceful as any place could be
I thought how wonderful this life is
And all the blessings God's given me

As I sat and counted those blessings
One by one they all came rushing back
The blessings God gave all my life long
In unending love God doesn't lack

I stayed a little longer and thought
How undeserving this man can be
Said, "God I thank You with all my heart
But I don't deserve all You give me

"I've sinned; I'm not a very good man
Why do You give me blessings today?
Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to You
I guess I don't understand Your way."

A voice from somewhere deep in my soul
Told me to squelch that foolish worry
'The love from The Father never ends
Your blessings tell the world His story.'

I must admit it makes sense to me
As a father I know that it's true
A father's love is never ending
No matter what wrongs a child may do

I returned from that pond feeling good
My soul had been restored once again
And with the grace of God up above
One day I'll meet Him at my trail's end.
