I woke up before the sunrise
As I do most every day
I watched as colors came to life
And darkness slowly slipped away

I saw the glow of the new sunrise
As over the mountains it slowly came
I watched a young hawk spring from its nest
Rise up in the sky in search of game

A hummingbird in the flowers
Striving to get her morning drink
The sun began to warm the air
So much to see I dare not blink

A deer walked out of the forest
Followed by a much larger buck
To be able to watch all this
Was more than just a stroke of luck

I knew I must say a prayer
For all God has given to me
A prayer giving Him all my thanks
Deep from my heart on bended knee

"Thank You my Lord for this morning
You make each day start out so bright
Grant me wisdom to use this day
In hopes that I may do things right

"I thank You Lord for my children
For my family and my friends
Dear Lord, will You forgive my sins
I promise I will make amends"

Now I'm set to take on this day
Wth new hope and faith from above
Thankful that I have been granted
Just one more day to express my love
