And then the Lord said to Noah
"Take you and yours aboard the boat
I've seen that you're a righteous man
Have no fear I'll keep you afloat

"I'll pelt the earth with heavy rains
For forty days and forty nights
All I created will perish
Then I'll trust you to make things right"

Noah did as God commanded
When he was six hundred years old
Though the world be destroyed by flood
Through faith he did as he was told

In the second month of the year
Sometime on the seventeenth day
The fountains of the deep welled up
And the clouds in Heaven gave way

To wash away the evil ones
The waters soon covered the earth
Bringing a swift end to all sin
Condemned souls washed into the dirt

Yes, the rain fell upon the eart
For forty days and forty nights
No sun could be seen in the sky
The nights dark without the strars light

The rains prevailed across the globe
Mountains were covered up whole
Fifteen cubits the tides did rise
Drowning every evil soul

All flesh died that moved on the earth
Except for those upon the ark
Yes, every breathing creature
That moved in the light and by dark

Deep waters lapped upon the earth
For one hundred and fifty days
As Noah and his ark floated
And to God he offered his praise
