I realize that sometimes we are all contradictions and that is what makes us unique. Sometimes, even our friends don't know us, so for you, Reg, and my friends at the Den.

Poem Artwork

I'm classic cars and country music,

thrift stores and Goodwill,

I love high heels and dresses,

but so soon i get my fill,

then it's on with an old t-shirt,

and those loose pants that fit the bill

I'm a Catholic and I'm Gothic,

and no, I don't shoot up schools,

I stitch, draw, write and read,

and have no time for fools,

i love my family, cat and friends,

Roses, squirrels and Christmas,

and I am always on the mend.

Music soothes me on the inside,

as do my faith and pride,

in my heritage-it's where I came from,

Italian (on my mother's side),

I'm Independent cos your politics

keep trying to put me in a box,

But you'll never find me all tied up,

by your Democrat/Republican locks.

I can't stand racists, bigots or homophobes,

I have no time for such hate,

and keep your booze, your pills and your potions,

to these things I just can't relate.

I'm teddy bears and classic films,

cats, rats, bats and night,

I always question authority,

and believe in wrong and right,

I'm not afraid of spiders,

and can take my trash out just fine,

I don't believe in barefoot and pregnant,

but don't want to keep his balls as mine.

Gargoyles, fairies and angels,

antiques and all the art I can find,

are what you'll see all around me,

and a man with an intelligent mind,

Literature, good food and good parties,

Nature walks, the moon and the quiet,

50's dresses, all makeup and jewelry,

and whoever heard the word "diet"?

I like my curves and don't plan on starving,

just to be some designer's ideal,

keep your botox, your labels, your perfection,

I'm natural and my boobs are for real,

Chocolate, good sex and fine romance,

are all better when you are in love,

Humility, prayer and real insight,

get you closer to the heaven's above.

I'm poetry, passion and caring,

a tomboy, a free spirit, a child,

though I'd rather be an angel,

my thoughts are sometimes still wild,

I thank God every night for my blessings,

and the gifts that come with each day,

Come up and sit here beside me,

As friends we can journey this way.

Wonderful to know a bit of the woman behind the poetic genius. I thoroughly enjoyed this write, but I must confess that I AM afraid of spiders...

A good journey you are going throuigh life simply being yourself. You believe in Go, help others, found yourself to be extremely sensitive to others, and do what is right in your mind each day. Daily living is a challenge to you too.

-- there is much to like here Michelle -- there is grounding interlaced with creative flight -- there is openness, guarded ever so selectively -- as a political Independent myself, I find delight in your political views, Democrats/Republicans, they may keep their restricted views -- I hold with great disdain those that are dependent upon tokes, illicit drugs and booze to feel adjusted to life -- life is too big a thrill straight up to want to view from a twisted perspective -- many times I think of what a dinosaur I am with some of my idealistic credos -- but I'll defend the right of anyone to openly and freely express their opinions -- whether or not they coincide or conflict with mine -- in a crowd or the solitude of my own thoughts -- I am comfortable with who I am -- like me or not -- I'll not change for anyone -- with the Lord's help I will always walk my own path -- our age differences are great -- our philosophical views are quite close -- peace be always with you -- JMW

Well done! Paradoxically, it is sometimes difficult to write about oneself. Lovely paradoxes that create coherence.

Michelle you described the perfect woman...one who is comfortable with herself. I love all of the things you speak of too although I don't wear the dresses lol. In fact if I were twenty years younget I would propose. Thanks for sharing so much of who you are and it is a wonderful young lady for sure.
