I love the ocean

it's where i heard the beating waves

and wanted to throw myself

beneath the rushing renewal

in-between the white breaths

of the bluest of seas and your eyes

before morning came too soon

it's where the heat overtook me

and i felt the need to run naked

golden fingers and red lips

reaching down low to touch

where my pinkest flesh

craved your sweetest  kisses

it's where the moon wails aloud

and only those with celestial hearing

circle dance to the rhythym of its lonely calls

and pray to the Spirit for a lunar rebirth

wandering down from the Milky way

in the sheerest of gossamer gowns

it's where the chattering insects sleep

tucking away fine wings beneath

green leaves both sturdy and strong

with the blessings of life, death and song

we revel like two children and escape

to a place where the sun lies awake

it's where you held me then

i am still here waiting for your touch

to make my body soar on wings

between the crisp  white sheets

and through the thin walls that carried

my moans and whispers to the edge of the sea

I just love the sea, romantic and soothing yet powerful and dangerous also. It fascinates and is a wonderful topic for a poem, and it's Jekyll and Hyde character lends itself to being compared to both love cherished and love lost. A good use of metaphor Michelle and so emotive.

When it works - it works!

You have accomplished what writers have, through the ages, sought - to carry away the reader to another place and time, one of romance, peace, and light, one that gives respite from the day to day hum-drum of life.

Words are not, of themselves, magical. It is only when they are strung together artfully that one obtains that sense of exhilaration that both writer and reader lust for.

You have accomplished that here. Pure wizardry...

Wow Michelle, there is something romantic and yet peaceful about the waters. I feel it when I am near it. I keep telling my husband I want a beachshack. Thank you for sharing a great write.

"by the sea, by the sea, by the beautiful sea" -- "between the crisp white sheets, between the crisp white sheets" -- you and me my love, you and me my love -- a poetic "Sugar Shack" blend -- a delightful analogy is your teasing blend of sea, sand and sex -- really good stuff here my dear -- JMW

This is truly breath-taking poetry that leaves the reader at a loss as to how to respond. One can read it over and over again and not ever get weary because your verses are magical and deeply soul-reaching. I have a poem here at AD titled "Near The Sea I Breathe" and compared to what you have expressed here, I am almost ashamed. At the moment, I have retreated to "a place within myself" and although it is not by the sea, I can certainly "feel" what you are expressing. Thank you for sharing this precious poetic gift, Michelle. Love, hugs and best wishes,

Regis xo

It's no secret that I too love the ocean. And I love this poem,
the way you play point counter point with the ocean and sex.

Michelle, this is filled with such a deep passion and sweeter sense of love that it beats on my heart like the sound of a drum. Passion, desire, need, and longing for that perfect union of body and heart flows in every line and verse and when the ocean pronounces it's blessing on lovers how could it ever be wrong. Michelle, this is truly a sensual write that borders on forever thoughts.
