did you ever
hear the doctor say...
"he has 30 days maybe 60
she has less than 6 months"
i have

my mom passed away
june 13th of 2003
that's just the way it be

he's still kickin' away

the last days
as she passed her own ways
all i can says
it was hell
no way to tell
you about it
i'd just shout it
out loud
but it weren't no pink cloud

i watched her wither away
day by day

i saw her smile
her bright brown eyes
go away
into another day
all the while
i felt the good byes

i fed her baby food
best i could do
i watched her die
all i could do was cry

i'd change her cloths
that were soiled
spoiled
from the night or day
before
but she ain't here anymore

now it's just he & i
and i wonder why?
and i cry.

why is he still here
my dad so dear
and i fear
i shed a silent tear

he sits in his wheel chair
just starin' out there
out the glass doors
to no mores

to his life which has passed
away
what can i say
it' one hell of a play
his today
just won't go away

he eats
he sleeps
man ain't that deeps
and he awaits
the pearly gates
but mostly, he waits

i & he
we be who we be
different men
in time
mine is now
his was then
but somehow
we both be
father & son
each seekin' a rhyme
that has been sung

he's dyin'
and i'm tryin'
to live
to give
his last day's
an easy way's
to pass away's

keep him at home
all alone
he & i
just waitin' for him to die
and i sigh
and i cry
and i wonder why?

did you ever
think
tomorrow would ever
nope
not ever

You remind me of my beloved late father. He never turned anyone away in need of care and love. Dying is part of living, and living is loving and you are loving your father as time moves you both forward. Best wishes to you and your father. R

I understand how it feels watching someone die.. The hopelessness and helplessness that comes with the agonizing wait.. Not sure if you should pray for life or pray for the tormented loved one to be set free. Never ready to say good bye. I could feel this one. The day will come when you will think of your mother with a smile without the tears .. It takes time... Just know that she is where there is no pain.

You are a good man for keeping him at home as most would dump him off in a nursing home and that is where he would die, all alone! At least you are there, even if he seems he don't care, he does, he will forever till its your time to join he and your mom where it is your beliefs do take you all...ed

Oh Steve, this was just heartbreaking, I am glad you are there for him, though it breaks your heart,
