it's been a week to remember,
or perhaps, more correctly said,
a week to forget.
don't know why they came this time.
or maybe i do,
maybe the feeling i've been having for you
brought back those memories
of the feelings for her.
whatever it was that brought them back
they stayed there just out of reach.
out of sight but not out of mind.
those memories are never that kind.
those memories of moments,
of times in time
when we were together
and our love seemed like it would be forever.
the tender times, closer than close.
her sweet smell, her tender touch,
the feel of her body, her kisses and such.
then the memories of the other times.
the angry times.
the times when we were together but apart.
those times that must have hurt her heart.
facing the fact that forever is gone,
that i'm alone. that i must move on.
facts i didn't want to face.
those memories i wanted to erase.
and so it was i went within.
alone and lonely.
back to a place i'd already been.
a place i swore i'd never go again.
but i did.
i slid.
i hid.
i went crazy. insane.
lost in those memories.
feeling the rain.
feeling my souls pain.
today i'm better.
that's why this letter.
to talk of those memories.
to get them out in the light.
hoping that then i might
get my balance, my sight.
yeah, it's been a week to forget.
a week of those memories to remember.
and so i say to myself,
our time has past,
hers and mine.
but at least i have those memories.
and those memories will last.
(one more time, i apologize for things i've said this last week. maybe this explains where i've been. backThere i a place i didn't want to be, i didn't need to be. thank you poet friends for understanding-steve)

Baring the soul, is hard...to oneself even harder. Great release, loved the honesty and questioning of yourself. It flowed great when read aloud, and I liked the way you rambled the first part out in length, then two shorter stanzas, the last being my favourite. I could almost see you shrug.
