i came to a fork
in the road.

i didn't know
which way to go.

one looked
soft and easy.

the other
required some work.

i didn't know
where i was going.

i didn't know
which way to go.

i didn't want
it to show.

i didn't want
someone to know
i didn't know.

so i took
the path most comfortable.
the road that was familiar.

before too long,
i hadn't gone too far,
i realized i chosen wrong.

so i stpped
and looked and listened.
i asked God where'm i goin'?

He said you're on the wrong path.
go back where you began.
and when you get there
for directions, ask a friend.

so round about i turned
and headed back
where i began.

and when i got back to it,
that fork in the road,
i asked a friend to show me
which way they were goin'
and could i go there too?

hopefully,
next time
i come to a fork in the road,
i'll know just what to do.
