During this time of needing to be socially distant,
We find ourselves back to a simpler life, in an instant.
Families are spending much needed time together,
Sharing meals, bike rides, and walks with one another.
Children’s laughter echo’s in the wind,
As they create chalk art with positive messages for others to mend.
Movies, board games, and jigsaw puzzles,
Restoring many relationships from the hustle and bustle.
Pets are giving and receiving more love than before,
Traffic no longer exists when you walk out the front door.
Those that thought they were alone,
Are finding their neighbors taking a new tone.
Strangers graciously helping each other,
Leaving canned food and fresh picked fruit, out for one another.
Aiding the elderly, and the sick,
We find simple gestures of caring, easy and quick.
It’s beautiful to see people more humble and kind,
As we are reminded, we are one humankind.
A nice way of chronicling all the benefits of families getting together and having close communion at home that normally in our busy lifestyles doesn't happen very often anymore.
When I see different is this medium of the Internet which allows us in touch with many, many more people than the older means of communication like the telephone and human one-on-one discourse.
It is certainly good to see how kind and helpful people are in a situation like this. The bad news that we normally hear every day seems to have digressed into the background, so very little of it is happening anymore.
OK I need to check up on my kids. But who cares about me? Oh, that's right I have two cats. They love the EXTRA attention. Hey, don't we all. After this is over, I may want to move in your town. Sounds almost like Andy of Mayberry, GA. Very nice poetic gem. A keeper!
