Allowed
Even encouraged
To brandish them with flare
Perhaps that is the delight
The pessimist
Makes the world a happier place
Because she can make mocking music
of its terrors
Brilliance in the dark
Laughter in the silence
Wit redemptive
crowing over chaos
A Phoenix rising
from the ashes
One detail in disaster
laughter
That is courage
The courage to seep
into another’s bloodstream
seethed and tingling
like Champagne
