Considerations over Coffee

Hands wrapped around curvature of morning mug,
I sip vanilla coffee slowly, savoring heat
that spreads in every direction,
dislodges frozen thoughts,
evokes memory.

Robust aroma rouses sleeper-car thoughts
of yesterday’s journeys. I see steam: nostalgic
remembrance, then the whistle, shrill
sound that should have warned me
of oncoming train.

More awake, I feel rumble of life’s locomotive
moving across tracks imprinted deep in me,
know I faced train-wreck tragedy
only with hope to share
cup of love with you.

Love this write!

If a certain coffee company had seen my daughter and granddaughter the other day sniffing fresh coffee just opened I think they would have jobs for advertizing their coffee.

It really does "spread in every direction," doesn't it? Even though I don't drink coffee, I love to spend time in cafes. So I don't get that caffeine kick, but I dive into the atmosphere like anyone else.

Great images projected in these verses. I could feel the tranquility before that cup of coffee, the soothing movement of the train, and the oncoming emotional collision. Good job!
