Poem Artwork

Why have you drawn me back
unto this darkness, Lord?
Again you pull me here
without my shield or sword,
bid me through the terror,
stand firm and trust in truth.

Faith I have, strength I lack
for body grows weak, Lord,
and there’s nobody here
to lean on or move toward.
Why have I been bearer
of loneliness since youth?

In inner sanctum deep
I listen for answers.
Finding none, I focus
on task in present tense,
extend fingers and flex
heart, learn to love through dark.

Restless, I long for sleep.
Morning mind meanders.
Still blooms the white lotus,
evoking distant sense
of reason. Dream’s apex:
I’m not here on a lark.

Like the blinded cave fish,
I’ve no need of sunlight;
eternal Source enough.
Adaptation complete,
I hear deep waters now
I never knew were there.

If I had but one wish,
Lord, it would not be bright
rays, relief, but – my rough
edges hewn and replete –
that You might show me how
to move beyond, to share.

In inner sanctum deep
I listen for answers.

very potent and effective imagery ... a most valid sojourn of the soul's quest to seek enlightment when only darkness seems to surround you ... i like the positive ending ...

Intense write Dawn, so, so intense. From a personal perspective, this reminds me so much of myself at times. The darkness is there I feel, that we may be the beacon from within it. Excellent write.

In the inner sanctum is where all the answers lie Dawn...
Listen intently...and pray intently...all will be revealed in God's time...not ours...

You've taken me down to a dark but personal place here... or at least reminded me of some of my own. It's difficult but sometimes the answers like to play tricks and hide themselves... you'll find them eventually ;)
