I find myself roaming
through an alley
through a park

Western sky is still gloaming
almost sunset
almost dark

My walk is not hasten
I’m not worried
I’m not scared

My mind should be chasten
never spoken
never shared

I’m watching the shadows
growing long
growing tall

I wonder what if he follows
behind a tree
behind a wall

Will I get ambushed
by a stranger
by a foe

Will I get punished
because I ran
because I fought

Or could turn a situation
of such danger
of such heat

Into vast exhilaration
with pure passion
with pure greed

So I walk down the grassy meadows
into the woods
into the dark

In search for even deeper shadows
I might encounter
I might embark….

To go ever so boldly forth into the arms of temptation. Oh the rush, perhaps followed by eternal hush! Excitement and challenge lure us on. Well done. Thanks for the sharing. Jon Michael Willey

I enjoyed this poem a great deal. Its rhythms propel you along, and your language creates powerful moods. Very nicely done.

One never knows what lies ahead with life's journeys. Of that, at least I can be sure.

This one is faced paced tension, full of worry, full of what ifs, might bes: but also courage: because you took that first step! Loved how this one progressed! Excellent, Rebecca.

I love how this walk literally and figuratively wends from beginning to end as you contemplate first the walk, then your fear, then the possible outcomes and then even if it may be a type of adventure to test yourself. In life like your stroll we never know what is around the next twist in the path or tree that we approach, all we can do is approach it in a positive manner and smile that we are able to walk the path on our own.
