... from a little boy's point of view.

What Do I Wanna Be?

I wish I was a grownup.
They know what they want to do.
When I get bigger than I am,
will I know what I want too?

I could be a teacher like Mr. Brown,
grading papers all day long.
When little kids learn all he knows,
then next year, they move on.

It would be fun to be a trash man,
dumping out the garbage cans.
I love to get real dirty
and I hate to wash my hands.

I could be a policeman and wear a badge,
chasing bad guys all day long.
I could make 'em have a Time Out
for stuff they did that's wrong.

I'd really like to be a priest
and teach people 'bout God's lessons,

'cept they'd say stuff I shouldn't hear
when I'd have to do confessions.

Or I could be like Daddy,
building houses everywhere,
'cept I wouldn't like to go up high
on a ladder way up there.

When you get to be a grownup,
how do you know what you wanna be?
I guess just for now, I'll be happy,
being a neat little kid like me.

Another clever write here, clever CJ! This was my favourite verse, in particular the last two lines:
"I could be a teacher like Mr. Brown,
grading papers all day long.
When little kids learn all he knows,
then next year, they move on."

God Bless
Loads of love
Lena :)

I am 50 this year... and, oh my goodness!!! When DID I make the transition from one to the other?? Now you got me worried... perhaps I never did... YET!! Like Victor says, this brings back all that desktop adulation so clearly, CJ! If children only knew what a sham being "grown-up" really is... My children have long since been disillusioned about me... they have been concerned about MY well-being and maturity for years! A good way to be, I'd say! Neat write, CJ. TY K xx

Ah CJ you capture the wonderment and wide eyed innocense of children in this one and I love it. My granddaughter informed me the other day when she grows up she wants to be a firetruck, not a fireman as I tried to correct her but the actual truck. LOL Thank you for sharing dear friend.
