Moses and Lent

Think of Lent in the same way the children of Israel followed Moses through the wilderness.




Moses led God’s children
toward a great promised land.
When they finally got there
they found it was so grand.

The forty years they traveled
required great dedication
before they reached the blessing
they went through great frustration.

Lent is a forty day quest
with much sacrifice and search.
Instead of living in a desert
we spend much time at church.

They followed Moses each day
through all the thick and thin.
We follow just as they did
with a promised land to win.

The manna and the quail
sustained them on their quest
just as God provides for us
as we daily face each test.

He provides for us in all our trials/journeys, and shares in all our joys. He is our God. I love how this one speaks to His children of all ages.

Dear Larry, Your poem is great and expresses the real meaning of the 40 years in the desert. Everyone is searching with struggle in the daily life. There is an array of books that no one has time to read, this ia why only faith can open them their path. Emile

A perfect piece of religious poetry concerning the simple act of faith. Without faith, whether it is religious faith, or otherwise a person lends themselves to pure luck and chance . . . Faith. The proven way . . .

If Moses where to start again his forty years of wandering he will soon find that the children of today are ones of wantings and cravings and very little inclined to have the same faith that moved their forefathers.
Seems that the world has taken the highway to drive faster away from God.
Hope that those that read Moses and Lent reconsider their ways.
