I’ve taken little steps
on a road I’d never walked.
She led the way so masterly
I learned much as we talked.
I marveled at her special skill
and listened with great awe
then I stepped up to the plate
and tried to hit the ball.
As time passed and on my own
I tried each day to grow
then I watched her once again
as her face shared its glow.
She painted pictures dramatically
with each well-chosen word.
My confidence seemed to grow
with each picture I heard.
She is an inspiration
a God-given mentor.
And I give thanks to God
that in my life he sent her.
Cheers,
Dan
