I want to share a poem my 7th grade granddaughter wrote as a class assignment. I excited that she is writing poetry. This related to a dog that had to be "put down."
The Owner and the Dog

The dog and the owner
best friends
inseparable.
The owner and the dog
never away from each other.
The dog and the owner
got older.
The owner and the dog
spending less time together.
The owner and her friends
best friends.
The dog
old
hurting.
The day
sad.
The day with no more dog
more sadness.
The owner
the saddest
heartbroken
regretful.
How the dog and the owner were before
best friends
inseparable.
Now how the dog is
gone.
Now how the owner is
sad
regretful.
Tell you grand daughter that many of us have lost their best friend by old age, and many years will pass but the sadness still there.
