Dandelion Twins

Something fundamental shatters

Broken bottles; strewn thoughts,

As she abandons all that mattered

To a girl forever lost.

We saw ourselves in broken bottles,

Tried to dull the piercing truth,

But each reflected only sadness

Happily displaced by youth.

Ignorance bled into knowledge,

Staining that which seemed pristine,

Our friendship was a flighty thing

For preservation, we lacked means.

We grew together; intertwined,

Some wild dandelion twins

Vibrant weeds of flash and color

Killing prowlers from within.

But now we’re lost in separate gardens

Half as lethal; muted; bleak;

Rarely picked for summer bouquets

Ill-equipped for fragrance sweet,

Wishing for a wind to lift us

Over stunting thunder clouds,

Dreaming of a lightening ruin

For oppressive garden shrouds.

Always longing, always hoping,

Frantic, desperate, flower twins,

Something fundamental shatters

Seeds are lifted, life begins.

Darling I love how you word your thoughts and feelings for others. Fantastic as usual.

well, hope surfacing in the last stanza, barely even then; its a wonderfully penned poem, sharp and imaginative, nicely flowing, except little off its beat in stanzas 3 - 5 (telling by the construction of the poem rhyme, to me, seemed considered important). in short, I think it's lovely read delivering a tough narrative, but reasonably light for its flow and rhyme-scheme.

thank you!

Well done with the first few stanzas reflecting an almost depressed acceptance while further along and in the closing hope is expressed...
