Happy Thanksgiving to everyone of you here at the Den. May the good Lord guide and keep you safe always. Amen

Poem Artwork

Another passerby
Another silver coin drops...falls...down
Some more idle talk
A careless caring look...they walk...they walk on by
Empty empathy, joyless acts...a gift they can afford to spare
They talk of woulda'...shoulda'...coulda'
brag of how they're gonna'...wonna'...musta'
they want more...more...more

But he, he wishes not of if he could see or walk or talk
he knows it is what it is...he is
his wornout outstretched hands
Can feel the sun today, the wind, a leaf, a touch
So he looks up towards heaven--
he has every reason, to be happy...to smile...to laugh
to once more give thanks for simply being alive...alive and well.

((Count your blessings name them one by one...sing it!))

Yes...counting our blessings can take many forms...I was glad when eventually my husband didn't have to wake up to suffering any more...

(Count you many blessings, money cannot buy your reward in heaven, nor your home on high)... I love that song! We do need to remember that as bad as our economy is, we sure do have it good compared to the vast majority. I complain about my 1000sq ft home, but I've visited homes pieced together from cement blocks, with a piece of tin on top for a roof-- no more than 5 ft high, and housing 5 children inside! No, we are very rich. We have so much to give... we don't even know or comprehend how much excess we truly do have.

Great little poem, B. --Charlie

Great message here; just when you think you have it bad, there's always someone around you who has it much, much worse. And I am thankful this year: two years ago at this time, I was in the hospital. No turkey or trimmins for me, just clear liquids. (Just got the nose hose removed the day before.) I also have a roof over my head, food in my belly. I am not on the streets, and I have a twin sister and friends who love and care for me. Yes, I am indeed blessed. And above all, I have the love of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ; many people don't even have THAT.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours; may it be full of God's many blessings!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

Your poem reminded me of a commercial that I hear every once in a while on the radio...it is about almost-giving...and the lives that could have been blessed, if but for follow through. It always makes me stop and think about really doing...instead of just putting true giving on the shelf.

I have to agree with you that "there but for the grace of God . . . " We take life so very lightly and for granted . . . Most, if not all of us, until something happens to alter our mindset . . . Thanksgiving . . . It truly does mean more than a turkey dinner with all the trimmings . . .

Bernice,

A strong message in this, to be grateful to the One Who is our Provider ... our Sustenance ... our Salvation. Beautiful.

(((HUGS))) and love, and Happy Thanksgiving to you, Karla.
