"I lost my smile..." that's what my younger brother wrote and it breaks my heart to see him hurt. He was the most affected after our father died. He's so far away. I wish I could hug him and tell him everything will be alright. For Dion-Albert, my awesome,amazingly talented brother. Life has a bag of treasures in store for you....
You can't lose your smile when the future ahead of you is bright and sunny

You can't lose hope when the light just went on underneath your feet
You can't lose sleep over the things you cannot change
You can't let go, not when you've been called to be a leader to the people you've yet to meet

What a touching, encouraging message for your brother. You can see hope and potential in his future, even while he is hurting and grieving for this time. I love the line, "You can't let go, not when you've been called to be a leader to the people you've yet to meet."

It is often easy to lose our smiles and lose our way but with enough love from those around us, we can be guided back to where we left it or even to a place where we can find a brand new one. You are doing right just by loving your brother and letting him know it often...

Very well constructed with helping a brother in mind. We can hurt when someone so dear to us dies, but we cannot give into that hurt or it will destroy us.
Your love for your brother clearly comes through in this beautiful poem, Bernice! I hope Dion-Albert keeps this close to his heart always.

"I Lost my Smile" is a powerful statement about living.
Our attitude, our emotional state, our feelings about our situation--real or imagined--are remarkably influential in how we deal with life and how life deals with us. I have felt and understand personal tragedy. But life is a journey. Everything has a reason. To give up on life is to judge God's plan for you even while it's in the process of unfolding.
Just as survival and reproduction are two fundamental movers in our lives, so too are love and faith personal cornerstones. When we're feeling down and out is when most we need to express our love for God just as he expressed his love for us in our creation. And that's when most we need to hold fast to our faith: "Not my will but thine be done."
Don't even consider getting off the bus while it's still moving and you're still on the road. Hold your head up and smile and give God a chance. The best is yet to come!
