a steady rhythm of african drums
within half circle they beat for life
barefoot dancer begins to move
sensual motions from hips to neck
arms sway above and then below
the slap of drum grows.. even stronger
the pulsing heart beats... ever faster
caught in the fury/heat and passion
the movement is frenzied and
comes much quicker
aching of calves, burn within thighs
panting and moaning
within and without..
the movement shuffles
over the top then
under the bottom
heaving and shaking
stretched taut are fingers
pawing the air with each
desperate cry......shrieking
outloud they mate with the sound
pounding the drums between their knees
foreheads, necks and down the arms
glistening wet and near exhaustion
both drummer and dancer
entice each other to push and pull
shattering sounds across the sky
they climax strong and come together
arms of drummer, legs of dancer
shiver and tremble with release of
cymbals and gently cool down
with tumbling rainsticks
and gentle tone upon the skin.......

how beautifully they come together.........
