within is tranquil
without is struggle
as i yearn for the thing
which turns inside..out

trying to maintain
yet find myself tangled
by the web of your being

seeking your affection
compassion to attention
i spiral the vortex
into octaves of red

the very thing that would soothe me
also sends me over the edge of the cliff
where freefall combines moments
of both..life and death

i tuck in my wings (i can't use them here)
dive toward the earth.. knowing
soft moss cushions my fall

cradled by your arms
my heart in your hand
