The Attack

This is about an individual having an epileptic seizure

The music plays sweetly.
The gentle singing of a violin
A harp plays together in harmony
Sweet, so sweet, soft, so soft
Such an angelic choir

Than it hits!
The asp seizes my wrist,
smiles and says, "it's time you know"
I plead with it, and say
"No, please, not again!

The asp stares back at me
And says mockingly, "It's time you know"
Now the tears freely begin to flow.
Not wanting to go through this hell again.

But in my heart I know, the asp is nothing but a devil's deadly friend.

And all it can say in its evil invincible voice:

"It's time, time to go"

The gentle music begins to change
Drums begin to beat
Loud, loud, and louder!!

The angelic choir is now

A Devil's Sonnet!

Here it comes.

It's happened before, It's happening again.

My head is spinning, the pains begins to start.

Lights, cruel lights

The room becomes dim But the lights,

Red, yellow, blue, and green

Are bright, brigher, and ever brighter

Flash slow, than fast
Faster and faster!!
Please make them stop.
The room sways to a melancholy beat.

Back and forth, back and forth.

Why, oh why does this have to happen

The devil smiles as
write in pain
I can't stand it, I can take no more!

STOP!!!!
It is over.
My eyes slowly open
A sea of people
are gathered around me.
They look at me through
questioning eyes.

Gingerly, I grab the chain I wear about my wrist. On the front likes a snake. The snake that seizes me and makes me sway to that awful beat.

And I know once again.
When another seizure hits,
It will say once more, "It's time you know"

Oh! Mary,

Seriously, a powerful poetic ambrosia that quickly transported me into a world that I too, know only too well. "The Attack" is an amazing portrayal of how it feels when the sinister sensation of a seizure knocks at your door.

One truly never knows what having a seizure is like; only what they see. They have no clue what the person who has a seizure is experiencing; you may have come close with this compelling write. I have seen people have seizures; it's scary, but I try not to stare or make comments. Very well done, Mary!

Wow! A vision from inside one afflicted with epilepsy, a little understood malady. How the wim of a mixed up sinaps can change everything. Well written piece...

Be safe,
Karen

I am not sure I understood "on the front likes a snake" I suppose it's the effigy that stands for the seizure.
I like the description and metaphors around a terrible physical and psychological experience.

Well done!

One has no idea until they've been there. This comes as close as I want to having a seizure: I'm sorry you suffer them. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
