.What Can I Say?

 Looking at you so sad and forlorn
breaks my heart in two.  I know she’s
gone; it’s not fair she was taken
from you.  Making a marriage last 66 years
couldn’t have been an easy thing to do.

She was a wonderful woman, none like the rest,
and yes, you are right, you were truly blessed.

You both were like second parents to me
giving the wisdom of your many years
Thinking of her now brings me to tears.

She taught me how to cook and sew,
taught me things about life I’d never know.
She was a little old fashioned, and she knew that.
But as if reading my mind she told me, learn
from the past.

I don’t know what to say right now, but in a
time like this words are cheap.  So I’ll take your
hand my friend, cry with you, and give you my love.
