The ringing of a phone in the midst of the night, stumbling to
answer the thing, hearing a voice with terrible fright, crying with
fury, my sister said you must come in a hurry!
Curiously asking her why, my sister’s voice quivered and said
“It’s Trish, she’s going to die! They aren’t giving her much
longer, her heart has given out, they’ve tried everything they
could, but say there’s no hope.
So, sis, come as fast as you can, even if you don’t make it in
time, every moment counts, and if you don’t make it,
at least you can say good-bye.
As I drove along the highway, I thought of things I’d never said,
I’d never told her I loved her, never said how much I cared.
I was so helpless all I could do was look to the Lord and pray
And hope that he’d give her at least one more day.
I got to the hospital, and cried when I saw her, tubes were coming
From everywhere, above her head, were waving green lights, but at
least she was alive. The doctor shook his head and said, I’ll leave you
two alone. Than the wavy lines began to fade, a harsh noise and
the waves went away. I cried out loud, don’t let it be that!
For a second, the line was completely flat, but a miracle happened,
when the wavy lines came back.
I yelled for the doctor to come and see, he was no where around, when I heard
a tiny sound. “Houseape, is it that really you”, she said with the faintest voice.
She whispered to me once again, “you make a lot of noise”. She called me by
my childhood name, I cried again, this time with tears of joy,
The power of prayer is a mysterious thing, but I will not question why.
God let me tell my sister the things I never said, that I loved her, but just
couldn’t bring myself to say.
We sat on the porch, she gave me a sigh, and said, “Houseape, don’t give
me that crap.” She ticked me off to no end, for saying that. Now I knew
For sure that she was well, she was being her nasty old self. It didn’t matter
That she was putting on that “tough” guy act, no matter how she was,
I gave thanks to the Lord, I got my big sister back.

You say in your bio that you are not a poet. I must disagree with you.
Those words are poetry that some people will never be able to write. Very touching and loving work. You are blessed. And yes, HAPPILY miracles do happen. I have seen many.
Good luck.
