My Dog's Desire.

I sometimes wish I had a 'Dogs Life'

Dark clouds brew or sun does shine.
Take your pick, she don't mind,
big brown eyes help her plead
"Please! just pick up my lead.
I have no need to talk
You know! I just want a walk"

The daft thing is that I do
I need but one look at you.
and my dim self can not fail
to understand that wagging tail
betraying your excited state
struggling even a moment to wait.

For me then a gentle stroll
you require somewhere to roll
muck, dirt or puddle, all are good
though best by far is simple mud
to matt that once gorgeous coat
before looking at me to gloat

In the flowerbed you love to dig
barking madly at that dangerous twig
cannot walk, essential you run
been in all day, now need some fun
chase those birds, show your might
one stands its ground, now its flight

Ten miles of yours to each of mine
I'm knackered yet you're still flying
time has come, we must return
irrespective of your energy still to burn
fifty yards ahead still running wild
catch up as you lick some young child

The kids around all love you so
the older ones watched you grow
from that loveable pup you were
nothing but a black bundle of fur
totally unable to remain clean
to the now sleek running machine

I know not whether to laugh or curse
when back home the roles reverse
I must rush around to get things done
whilst you just want me to rub your tum
as you idly spread yourself before the fire
pondering what will be your next desire

Such a sweet and true poem I'm so envious of them!
Wouldn't that be nice to be just like them.
Thank You so Much (c:)
