Joy and sorrow share the day
with happiness just holding sway.
Emptiness this day will bring
as I have to cut the final string.
Carrying a box with her first curl
I say goodbye to my once little girl
I must stand aside and watch her part
another man now holds her heart
It's with a tinge of sadness, no doubt,
but also with chest well puffed out
that I walk by my daughter's side
proud to be the Father of the Bride.
