He Was...

He was a family man
loving a beautiful young wife
and doting on a son of two
was the purpose of his life

He was a superior man
at least to his own mind
proud to be white
keeping to his own kind

He was an ignorant man
lacking every social grace
judging not on ability
but by colour and race

He was a jealous man
seeing a new expensive car
driven by too dark a skin
was just a taunt too far

He was an angry man
in his hand a knife he held
with green wrath he stabbed
and the driver fatally felled

He was a callous man
of worry there was no need
after all he was white
the victim some lesser creed

He was a worried man
his child so suddenly ill
lying deathly white
and completely still

He was a scared man
told his boy would surely die
if some operation
they did not try

He was a silent man
only one man can perform
a delicate trick like this
He was knifed this dawn

Thank you for writing this powerful piece. Hopefully, people will stop and think about it's message. People are people, we need to learn to embrace our differences.

I'm grateful for it too and will save it. My two daughters have black partners, my son is gay and I have epilepsy as is no secret here.
So we know a bit about discrimination. You have a voice and are using it David, Bravo.

Powerful!! This is a lesson many need to learn. I have three sons.. Two white and one black. I do still see discrimination . Boils my blood. People need to stop and think about your message. I for one am grateful for it!
