Children running
Through the store
Or screaming at the table
Next to me
Don’t people
Parent anymore?

Toddlers dressed
Like ladies
Of the night
While mommy and daddy
Ohhh and ahhhh
And then wonder
When this kid’s a teen
Why she’s pregnant
At fifteen

It hits a raw nerve
When my kids can’t
Watch TV
Cause kiddie shows
Have “gangstas” and “hoes”
In the guise
Of being progressive you see

It hits a raw nerve
When kids rule the roost
They shout and swear
At mom and dad
Who just can’t
Seem to understand
That while they tried
To be their “friend”
A parent is what they needed
In the end!
