Sometimes, maybe we should just throw in the towel and forget trying to follow our dreams, when it gets right down to it,we are insignificant.
What did I do to make you hate me?
Put pen to paper and
Opened my heart
A futile exercise in trying to
chase away the blues
or share the joy of the moment
Life has a way
Of throwing a us a curve
Just when I think
I have figured out
Where I am
Where I am going
Or even WHO I am
I find that I must start all over
Daughter, wife, mother, teacher,
Caretaker, lover, friend
Does it ever end?
When do I get to be me?
No longer defined by others
But by my heart’s desire
A pipe dream I fear
For I am obsessed with being
What others expect me to be
Funny because
I don’t even know
Who I am anymore
So when it gets right down to it
I am really nothing at all
You are everything and "all". Just take a little time out to treat yourself to peace and quiet, a day out, just a coffee in a quiet place even. The world will still turn around and maybe everyone can help you a little more instead of always giving. If not..just find time for yourself. Be a little more selfish. Really enjoy reading your poetry.
