When You Need A Friend

Friends come at a special time.

A friend is not needed midst family and laughter

A friend is not needed when it's daylight or shade.

A friend is needed midst darkness and sorrow.

A friend is needed when you're alone and afraid.

Remember I am a friend.

A friend is not needed in summer or springtime

A friend is not needed when your lover is near.

A friend is needed when you are in pain

A friend who can share your feelings of fear.

Remember I am a Friend.

An open-hearted view of the double-sided coin which is sincere friendship, Olita. Friends are great for sharing the GOOD times with, but most certainly they are MORE than worth their weight in gold when the going is rough. I love your unconditional promise and declarations contained in this poem and understand that you must be a very well-grounded and loving person to be able to so wholeheartedly and whole-mindedly commit yourself in this way. A friend in deed! I think your delightful, open-faced Biog photograph says it all! Both strength and and a servant-heart comes through your lovely lines. TY Kate xx
