I gaze upon the spot where last you slept.
But you are gone.
I miss your soft caress as I try to keep ablutions under a warm harsh light.
I miss the morning greetings so softly expressed as I sip hot coffee and choke down morning sustenance that tastes of dust and straw.
I call but you do not answer. Where are you?
My eyes are salted with hot tears. My throat closes.
When last we met, I held you in my arms, your glance promised more.
Not now! There is no time! Ah how I rue that thought.
