Christmas Wish for Families

Families: extended and blended.

Trying to make Merry in a day;

Christ, what a task set before you!

You thought that the Pharisees were tough.

Little did you know…

Ancient insults festering,

Stewing with the roasted potatoes;

Simmering resentments;

Ladled over past neglects and over-sites.

A week to resolve the conflicts

Before the New Year’s Resolutions:

Pains stashed away for the next gathering

What if the funeral comes before the forgiveness?

Another inherited serving of ancestral debris:

Heaped upon the next generation.

Wake-up! Smell the mistletoe!

Embrace and kiss:

Not the Italian kiss of death;

Nor the Judas touch

But, the kiss Mary plants

On the face of

New Born Hope.
