Painting by Annie Lee, entitled, "Rebirth".

Poem Artwork

lies
gather in clustas
of backstabbin bustas
gossip-mongerin throngs
whisper untruths for so long
that

the unreal becomes the real

and secret lusting is revealed
honor becomes a hearty meal
for shrill vultures stealin Culture
frontin knowledge from empty colleges
diaphanous mirages perpetrate
like solids

the collision of intentions
defeat precision and
subsequent comprehension
tension mounts
the weak-hearted bounce
and only the Warriors of Light remain

Drums come on strong

clarified by wrong the Right
are knighted in holy grace
the light of God shines from every face
shield truncheon and mace
spatter gore across fields
the vultures mill
and await the Fates
those sister three
their web of life replete with strife
love misery and loss
are tossed between worlds
that twirl their flags unfurled
in omniversal solidarity
the clarity of vision shouts
without doubt

the Truth is out

comedy in three parts
a homily to fresh starts
the past recedes between the trees
of parchament leaves
each page full of scribbled bull
self-recrimination and hate
relate the state of every plate
and shattered glass obscures the past

the Last amass upon the shores of yore
and our dreams become

real

we feel the sky reel and the world contracts
as the final Act arrives
time implodes through shuttered modes
of perceptive interpretation

throughout the Nation

the Called stand forth against
the wiles of the self-styled
Lords of this Earth

Rebirth.

Epiphany by Gary Stephens

“We’re going to use nine megaton warheads in space and we’re not sure they’re large enough to be effective. Why would you even consider using kiloton-range surface-to-air warheads as back-up?” The answer was succinct. “Because they’re all we have.”
