It was a sigh so quiet, it almost wasn’t heard.

In a night so black, no light could be seen.

They spoke to each other, without saying a word…

never telling each other where they had been.

A lifetime full of stories and events in a lonely life,

could not be spanned in a small space of time.

Forgotten joys, hurts and the daily stresses and strife,

would not be remembered during in this joyous clime.

As years pass, they would be rehatched and told.

Each memory shared and brought out into the light.

As each hurt dissolved, a release of the burdens would be bestowed,

to those who would prefer the brightness of day to the darkness of night.

How do you tell the one that you love, who loves you so well,

that life before them was oh so bitter, sad and cold?

How the insincerity of other people’s words felt like a swell

of waves that over came your ability to believe what you were told.

Honesty in the world of dating is not very common or heard.

People say they love you, abandon you and treat you like dirt.

Your heart is smashed and your tears make the world very blurred.

Your ability to hope and dream dwindles as your soul is filled with hurt.

The one I love and who loves me so tenderly and true …

came along just when I had just about given up hope

and my dreams were starting to fade away into the blue.

The change in my world was beyond belief or scope.

Today I am so different from what I had been.

My life is changed for the good and the better.

I think of the way I lived life and what I did back then

and realize that it lead me toward what I needed, to the letter.

Was it God? Fate? Or just plain dumb luck?

I lean towards God in this particular question.

I took this road, with a leap of faith and some pluck.

I had an answer to a prayer on which to lean upon.
