What do I think of this war?
To be honest, I hate it.
Do I agree that war is necessary sometimes?
Yes. The bible more than emphasizes this tidbit.
I feel sad, retrospective and introspective all at once.
Sorrow for those whose lives will be lost.
Sorrow for those of us who remain after they are gone…
and sorrow for those whose dreams of a future are tossed.
Death occurs when we least expect it.
Today I learned of someone who’d died, suddenly in her sleep.
No illness, no feeling down or different.
No warning, no nothing… we are left with just memories to keep.
I want to scream and shout against the feelings of pain.
I want to shake my fist at the heavens and ask why.
I want an answer, I want to be given a sign.
Why oh why must everyone die?
My faith keeps me from doing this.
I know that it is not for us to ask why.
In the immortal words handed down to us…
“It is for us to do and die”
Silver, outstanding poem and thoughts. I would expect many thoughts such as yours to be on our minds today. I detest war but I do love my freedom and as said in the song of Lee Greenberg, "They can't take that from me."

I appreciate this piece for its transparency and its honesty, but I have to question: why is it not for us to ask why? if not us, then whom?

I applaud your poem, and you knowledge of poetry.
This combined narrative dialogue and play is about the uncreated, unborn and undying transcendent Self of God-consciousness and Buddha-nature. It describes an odyssey of transcendent Consciousness Awakening and Remembrance.
A scientist/philosopher explores the mysteries of existence in a highly personal quest for answers to life's ultimate questions, forging a bridge between sterile science and spiritual values -- a scholarly work for all who seek wisdom, truth, true fr
