I'm Stuck in this Wonderful Place ... by a.j.a. * There is no sound of motors, just the sound of rustling leaves, and birds singing, the sight of a rabbit, hopping in the distance. * Love floats in the air. * What's that I hear as I walk? The hissing of a small waterfall. * See the robin's orange underbelly, as she files. * Fly robin, fly! * Hey, Toto, I don't think we are in captivity anymore. * I'm stuck in this wonderful place. Leave me. I am happy here.
- repost by the resident young write in the house, written this time last year ... at which point we were in the same gear we are in right now, which is trying to burn up a few early days of the summer season before my daughter leaves for a 5-week stay with her father, stepmom and new baby sis. It is tons green here, due to all the rain, and AJA is managing to get outside to fill the drive with chalk art or whiz by on her scooter during odd moments when the sky is not opening up. The wildlife is everywhere, many large waterfowl coming closer and closer as the marsh is more than just a little bit squishy this year. And if AJA ever has the dream of sleeping in, it can't be done around here, as we've had a teenny-tiny American Goldfinch who flies to each of the windows in the house (every single day!) and while at each window he hovers and alternately scratches or pecks at the glass with his birdy toes and beak! We *are* stuck in a wonderful place, and so ... it seemed fitting to repost this piece for the poet up and coming who is stuck here with us, in this wonderful place ... even on the occasions she must travel the distance, but she knows she is locked solid in our hearts. -a

What would you do if your friend copped off with the man you loved? Wouldn't it break your heart? Abbie is heartbroken when Richard prefers her lovely French pen friend Colette over her.
This second book in Edie's 'Puddle' series is filled with wonderful catchy rhyming poems that have positive nostalgic messages. Her whimsical illustrations carry the poems along on ripples of warm vibrant colours.
