Picked up the car today
off the San Francisco Bay.
It's now back where it came from--
same port from which it left.
Except, then it wasn't raining
but the rain doesn't spoil the mood.
I picked up the old beat up car
on the first possible day.
I'm happy that the ship came in
earlier than it was expected.
I drove the old car north again,
back across the Carquinez Strait
and filled it up in American Canyon
with another tank of gas.

Dropped off the car today,
shipping it back to the States,
shipping it back where it came from.
It occurred to me just now
that the next time I fill the tank
I'll be filling it up back home.
Of course, I'll be there first,
waiting for the ship to come in
with that old beat up car inside.
I'll be happy when the ship comes in--
not 'cause I'm attached to the car.
I'll be happy to have something to drive
that's paid for, and all I have to do
is fill it up with a tank of gas.
